Perry Homes Foundation Partners with the Arbor Day Foundation to Plant 100,000 Trees
At Perry Homes, sustainability is at the core of our mission. As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, the Perry Homes Foundation has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 100,000 longleaf pine trees across Florida and Texas. By restoring these vital ecosystems, we are doing our part to help protect biodiversity, improve air and water quality and, ultimately, create healthier communities.
Restoring Florida’s Longleaf Pine Forests
Florida’s longleaf pine forests are disappearing due to clearcutting, invasive species and habitat degradation. To mitigate this decline, Perry Homes has committed to planting 50,000 longleaf pine trees in Florida’s state forests.
As these trees mature, they will:
- Rebuild native plant communities, creating a sustainable habitat for wildlife such as gopher tortoises, northern bobwhite quail and eastern indigo snakes.
- Improve air and water quality, benefiting nearby communities.
- Enhance outdoor recreational opportunities, making forests more accessible for both residents and visitors.
Rebuilding the Texas Longleaf Pine Ecosystem
Once covering 90 million acres across the South, longleaf pine forests have been reduced to less than 3% of their original range. This dramatic loss has impacted nearly 600 plant and animal species, many of which depend on this unique ecosystem.
To combat deforestation, Perry Homes has pledged to plant 50,000 longleaf pine trees across six private land tracts in Texas. These efforts will:
- Reconnect fragmented forests to create safe habitats for endangered species like the red-cockaded woodpecker, indigo snake and gopher tortoise.
- Prevent soil erosion by leveraging the longleaf pine’s ability to thrive in sandy and mountainous terrain.
- Provide long-term environmental benefits with longleaf pines that are resilient to extreme weather and disease.
A Lasting Commitment to Sustainability
Through our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Perry Homes is proud to contribute to the restoration of critical ecosystems. By planting 100,000 trees, we are taking measurable, meaningful steps to:
- Protect endangered wildlife
- Reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality
- Preserve natural habitats for future generations
We believe in building both beautiful homes and a greener, more sustainable future. Our efforts in reforestation, conservation and sustainable building practices are helping to shape thriving communities for years to come.
